How it all began...

In college I had to come up with a fake brand for a label I was designing in my art class. The name Thystle struck me as something that could work. Yes, I know it isn't spelled correctly, but that was part of the fun. For years I forgot about the brand I created. As I got older and began a life with the man I love art was still a very real part of our lives. At some point we had acquired some old pallets that I wanted to use in projects, but didn't know exactly what to do. You see, I struggle with not wanting to make mistakes and use up the important pieces, so sometimes I just get stuck.

One day Anthony, my husband, said that he had been wanting to make a pallet clock for our home with the pallets we had. We got the stuff we needed and began creating. There were moments that we didn't agree on design and moments when we didn't agree on process, but through it all we finally created a 33in clock for our living room. After that we started making smaller clocks as wedding gifts and grew from there.

After making a few clocks we talked about what it would be like to have a brand name that we could put on the back of the clocks so people knew who to contact. That is the moment that I remembered my old brand and asked Anthony for his opinion. We agreed that it was perfect because it didn't hold us to only creating clocks. At this point clocks are what we mostly creat, but I like the freedom that that the name Thystle Design gives us. To date, we have created 22 clocks total and we learn new techniques with each and every clock.
